Working from home is something more and more homeowners have to contend with. Usually that can be as simple as a laptop on the dining room table or a desk in a small home office. Sometimes however, the home business requires a little more space.
Having grown out of her basement Pilates studio, this homeowner needed a larger, light filled studio space that could be separated from the rest of her home. It needed its own entrance, bathroom, and welcoming area. It needed lots of light and storage space. We managed to create these spaces but made them all multifunctional. Opening up to the existing kitchen with a large pocket door, turns the welcoming area into a connection for the family to the backyard, complete with closet and powder room. The studio space, designed to be as flexible as possible, is also set up to be a future family room if the family ever decides to move or relocate the business elsewhere.
This project proves that even a very challenging list of requirements can still lead to a fantastic end result if the design work is thorough and thoughtful.
