Midcentury Makeover

This project showcases the transformative power of thoughtful design and renovation. We had the privilege of working on a mid-century modern home that, while structurally sound, was burdened with dated elements from a 1990s remodel. The clients, passionate about the home's original architectural style, sought to restore its mid-century charm while infusing it with contemporary flair.

A major focus of the project was to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. We achieved this by adding a screened-in porch, extending the living space and offering a tranquil retreat to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. Inside, the main living room fireplace, a relic of the 90s remodel, underwent a dramatic transformation. We redesigned it to reflect the clean lines and minimalist aesthetic characteristic of mid-century design, instantly becoming a focal point of the room. The outdated interior railing at the stairs was replaced with a sleek, crafted steel railing, further enhancing the home's contemporary appeal.

The primary bathroom, previously divided into two dark, cramped spaces, underwent a complete metamorphosis. We reimagined the layout to create a single, expansive, light-filled sanctuary. Custom maple built-ins added warmth and functionality, while a unique recessed mirror and cabinetry opposite the vanity introduced a touch of artistic elegance. The result is a stunning bathroom that perfectly balances modern luxury with mid-century sensibilities. This project exemplifies our commitment to honoring a home's architectural heritage while adapting it to meet the needs and desires of contemporary living.
